I believe in improving strength and power in the gym and leaving the endurance training for the track and circuit work done in sessions at the track. The only endurance work done at the gym is usually mid-torso training.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Low Hurdle Plyos<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The aim is to develop quick contacts with the track. The hurdles must be kept low to ensure there are not long contacts.<br \/>Also, this should be done in very low volumes, e.g. 10 sets of 3 contacts with double-legged bouncing. (High-volume plyometrics is from the old Eastern Bloc drug cheating regimes)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background Training<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Base training usually involves plenty of hills and bounding uphill. This slowly builds up &#8220;strength endurance&#8221;.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Changing Pace Practise<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oztrack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/flyersgroup.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-68 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/oztrack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/flyersgroup-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"Flyers Group at AIS\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-68 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/oztrack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/flyersgroup-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"Flyers Group at AIS\" \/><\/noscript><\/a>\r\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Flyers Group at AIS<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Changing pace must be practised and developed. Simulating race pace conditions is excellent fun for the athletes. Get the athletes to &#8220;bounce each other around&#8221;\u00a0 and take turns being the first person allowed to change the pace.
