Women's 200m This was to be Melinda Gainsford's first big meet test after a winter preparation hampered by back injury. Lauren Hewitt of Victoria has gone from strength to strength after the Olympics and the world Juniors. From the gun it was all Gainsford who ran a blistering bend to clearly lead into the straight. At the 150m mark Gainsford appeared to lose her rhythm allowing Lauren Hewitt to maintain her unbeaten Grand Prix run this season, Jodi Lambert of Western Australia snuck in for second.

Men's 100m What a build up, what a race. Away, Lewis out last. On this occasion Lewis didn't trouble the commentators again, not that it bothered Steve Brimacombe who went on to win one of the best 100m races ever seen in Australia. Henderson got the best of the start, but it was Brimacombe's mid race surge that carried him to Victory. The times were quick but not scintillating which was more a reflection on the swirling winds than the calibre of the athletes. The margin from first to last was a mere .23 of a second making this the race of the night.

Men's 400m A strong wind in the back straight and a very even field meant this race was wide open. Anthony Ryan of Queensland looked great for the first strong 200m, but it was Callum Taylor from out wide in lane eight that led the field into the home straight. Cameron Mackenzie showed grat strength to lift in the last 40m and take the Victory. Casey Vincent of Victoria finished well to claim second and Callum Taylor bravely held out a charging Anthony Ryan for third.
